SSR and AA Medical Test Details A Complete Overview

The selection of Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) and Artificer Apprentices (AA) by the Indian Navy goes through rigorous selection with a written examination, a physical test, and a medical examination. It is the medical examination that determines whether a candidate is fit to meet health and other standards for naval service in this aspect of selection. This article provides an overview of the medical examination process for the SSR and AA recruitment process, including eligibility criteria, examination procedure, common disqualifications, and preparation tips.

Eligibility Criteria for SSR and AA Medical Examination

Stages in The SSR and AA Medical Test

The medical examination for SSR and AA is undertaken at Military Hospitals or specific medical centres under the supervision of the Indian Navy medical officers. It comprises the following processes:

1. Initial Medical Examination

This will take place just after the written examination and PFT. Candidates who are found fit after these tests will be subjected to a preliminary medical assessment.

2. Detailed Medical Examination

The candidates who are shortlisted for the initial medical test undergo a prolonged medical examination in one of the Indian Navy hospitals. It checks those who pass or fail to meet the high standards of medical fitness required for naval service.

3. Review Medical Examination (RME)

Temp-unfit candidates may try to apply for the review within the specified period. The final decision would be given after the re-examination of the candidate.
