Height Required To Join the Indian Navy

The medical board of the Indian Navy set a specific height requirement for both males and females.

  • For males, the minimum height is 157 cm.
  • For females, the minimum height is 152 cm.

Note: Candidates who belong to hilly areas or the northeastern region will get relaxation up to 5 cm.

Minimum Chest Required For the Indian Navy

For the Indian Navy, the chest for males and females should be well-formed. 

The chest has an expansion of up to 5 cm.

Chest less than 0.5 cm will be considered as 0, and more than 0.5 cm will be considered as 1. Furthermore, equal to 0.5 is measured as 0.5.

Eye-Vision Required for the Indian Navy

Eye vision for both males and females is the same in a specific branch. However, there are two branches: Executive and Technical. Each branch has different vision requirements.

Physical Standards in the Navy

Candidates need to meet all physical standards as set by the medical board of the Indian Navy. The physical standards are as follows:

  • Wax buildup in the ears is not allowed.
  • You should not have any skin conditions, including acne vulgaris, warts, or fungal infections.
  • Dental health must be satisfactory, with no cavities (including temporary fillings) and a minimum of 14 dental points.
  • You must not have undergone a hernia or any abdominal surgery in the past year.
  • Conditions such as hydrocele, varicocele, or piles disqualify you.
  • Any diseases affecting the bones or joints will result in immediate rejection.
  • There should be no history of mental breakdowns or seizures.
  • Normal hearing abilities are required.
  • Any signs of functional or organic diseases related to the heart and blood vessels will lead to disqualification.
  • Your blood pressure must fall within the normal range.
  • Tattoos are strictly prohibited. However, tattoos on the forearm and the palm can be relaxed.
